After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, a rumor spread in Taiwan that Ukraine had sold a significant quantity of weapons to China, supposedly so that China could use them in a potential invasion of Taiwan. This narrative, though alarming, turned out to be part of a Chinese propaganda campaign.
How can we decipher such a manipulative story? I created this infographic to trace the export of Ukrainian weapons to China from the 1990s to the present. It helps to clarify:
– The scale of the global defense market,
– The historical and diplomatic context between Ukraine and China,
– The types of weapons sold and their intended functions.
This visualisation invites the viewer to analyze the data and draw their own conclusions.
